Most landscapes fail on scale, not on taste
The usual problem with a residential landscape is not that the wrong plants were chosen. It is that they were the right plants at the wrong size. A shrub that wants to be eight feet wide planted three feet off the foundation, or a tree put where its roots will meet a driveway in ten years.
We plan for what things become, not what they look like on the truck. That is boring advice and it is the difference between a bed you prune and a bed you have to rip out in year six.
What we install
- Full landscape installations: new beds from bare ground, front to back.
- Shrubs, ornamentals and trees, placed for mature size and the light they will actually get.
- Annual colour: seasonal flower rotations for entrances, islands and front beds.
- Plant removal and replacement: taking out what has outgrown its spot or died back.
- Bed design and edging, including shaping beds that were never really shaped.
- Foundation plantings, kept far enough off the wall to be maintainable.
Planting for the Upstate, not for a catalogue
This region asks a lot of plants: humid summers, heavy clay, real cold snaps in winter, and long dry stretches in August. Plenty of things that look wonderful in a garden centre in April do not make it through their second summer here.
Clay is the recurring issue. A hole dug in compacted clay and backfilled with soft soil behaves like a bucket. Water goes in and does not leave, and the plant drowns slowly. Breaking the sides of the hole, amending properly and setting the crown at the right height is most of what decides whether a shrub establishes.
Warranty
Planting work carries a one-year workmanship warranty covering installation-related failures. The plant material itself is not warranted against drought, neglect, over- or under-watering, disease, insects, weather or lack of maintenance. Those come down to care after we leave, which is genuinely outside our control. Full terms come with your quote.
If watering is the risk, an irrigation system or drip line in the beds removes most of it.
Annual colour for HOAs and commercial sites
Seasonal flower rotations at an entrance are the highest-visibility, lowest-cost thing an HOA or a retail property can do. Everyone entering sees it, it changes several times a year so the property never looks static, and it is the first thing residents mention when it is missing.
On the 12-month program those rotations are scheduled in rather than being a separate decision every season.

New plantings usually arrive with mulch or pine straw, often alongside hardscape, and sometimes after clearing and grading has made room. Landscape lighting is what makes the planting visible for the half of the year you come home in the dark.
