Half the year you only see it in the dark

From October to March most people leave for work before it is properly light and come home after dark. For those months, an unlit landscape is money you cannot see. Lighting is the only thing on this site that changes how much of the year your property is actually visible.

It also does two practical jobs at once: steps, drives and level changes stop being trip hazards, and a lit property is a markedly less appealing one to walk up to uninvited.

What we install

  • Path lighting along walks, drives and steps, spaced to guide, not to line an airport runway.
  • Uplighting on specimen trees, and on the texture of brick and stone.
  • Architectural accent lighting that picks out columns, gables and entryways.
  • Hardscape lighting built into retaining walls, sitting walls and steps.
  • Wash and grazing lighting for facades and feature walls.
  • Transformers, timers and controls, so it runs itself.

Lifetime warranty on workmanship and fixtures

Landscape lighting carries a lifetime warranty on both the workmanship and the lights themselves. It is the strongest cover we offer on any service, and the only one that extends to the hardware as well as the labor. That is a deliberate statement about the wiring and the connections underneath, which is where lighting systems actually fail. Full terms are set out on your quote, and all warranty determinations are subject to inspection and approval by our management.

Common questions

Can you light the whole property?

We can, and it is usually the wrong answer. The most common mistake is too much light in too many places: every plant lit, every path edged in identical fixtures, the whole facade flooded. The result is flat, and it reads as a parking lot rather than a home.

Good lighting leaves some things dark on purpose. Contrast is what creates the depth.

Does the color of the light matter?

More than people expect. Warm color temperature flatters planting and masonry. Cool white light makes foliage look gray and brick look lifeless, which is why a cheap retrofit kit can make a good landscape look worse.

When is the cheapest time to run lighting?

While the ground is already open. Fixtures and wiring are far easier to place when beds are open and trenches are already dug, so if you are having hardscape, planting or irrigation done, that is the moment.

Retrofitting into a finished landscape is completely doable. It just costs more to put back what has to be lifted.

What does the warranty actually cover?

Both the workmanship and the lights themselves, for life. It is the strongest cover we offer on any service and the only one that extends to the hardware as well as the labor. Full terms are set out on your quote.
